What Causes Itchiness And Tingling Sensation In The Lips?

HEY lips have been itching, tingling, and sometimes feel very parched, but they are not. Also, my salivary glands are very overactive. I have considered allergies, but eliminated what I thought would be causing this, and no difference. It has been about 3 or 4 months now. I am female, in my mid 60's.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that itching, tingling and parched feeling of the lips along with hypersalivation are all due to allergic reaction ..

It can be due to any food or medication while can also be due to other products like toothpaste, mouthwash etc..

I would suggest you to consult an Allergist and get allergic tests like Patch test, RAST test, food challenge test etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
The tests will help in ruling out the exact cause of the allergen and once you know the cause of the allergic reaction you can avid exposure to it to prevent allergy attack..

You can be advised to take anti allergics like benadryl or levocetrizine..
You can also be instilled an Immunotherapy that will help in reducing the severity and frequency of allergic attack..
Once the allergen is ruled out avoiding exposure to it can prevent the allergy symptoms..
