What Causes Itching And Burning Sensation In The Armpits, Hands And Neck?

My skin is burning and severely itching. Main areas are trunk, armpits, soles of feet, palms of hands, neck, and groin. The skin is red but that could be because I can t stop scratching. There are raised bumps, but again that could be because I can t stop scratching.

Hi,

Severe itching along with the eruption of bumps all over the body can be due to common causes like:

-CONTACT DERMATITIS that is an allergic reaction which occurs when skin comes in contact with certain agents that your body is allergic to like skin cosmetics, detergents, soaps, fragrances, leather, latex, poison ivy etc.

-FOLLICULITIS or generalized hair follicle infection caused by Staphylococcus bacteria leading to the formation of painful bumps over different parts of the body.

-Another cause can be a food allergy or a side effect of medicines. You should consult an Emergency room and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like blood tests to rule out allergies and infection.

As of now you can take anti-allergics like Benadryl for relieving itching and do cool compresses over bumps. Apply Calamine lotion or Benadryl cream.
