What Causes Itching And Discoloration Around A Hair Follicle?
hi. i am a 21 yr old women and on my left arm,.. i had this single hair follice which had a small red erythematous area that started itching.then it turned brown nd the skin dried up and started coming off..nd its increasing in diameter a little by every day. this is just a single spot on my arm. i am a dentist by profession is there a chance that this is some lesion i have accquired
Doesn't sound like something acquired. It sounds more like a little abscess that was caused by an ingrown hair. If it's getting bigger, it might need to be drained. I'd start off with a warm compress (warm as you can stand it) for at least an hour or so each day, and see if that helps. If it's getting red hot, and painful, you might need a drainage and some antibiotics.
