What Causes Itching And Discomfort In Back?

I have had a discomfort in my back....near the last rib. It s like a deep internal itch that won t go away as well as the yr long discomfort when trying to take deep breathes. I have had a long hx of deep knots in my muscles, horrible back issues, but this is different. I can feel my ribs grind or pop with occasional deep breathes. Any idea what this could be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It seems to be muscular however ultrasound KUB for any renal cause or chest X-ray for base of lungs pathology should be done to rule out. Meanwhile, using OTC analgesic like Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen may be helpful for symptomatic relief. Muscle relaxants may also be needed. Supplements for vitamin D3, B12 and folic acid may be helpful.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
