What Causes Itching And Dryness In Vagina Along With Foul Odour Post Hysterectomy?

I had a partial hysterectomy about 5 weeks ago. I have a foul smell with my urine and severe itching and dryness. I still have my ovaries so I m confused. I go back for my 6 weeks check up next week, but this is driving me nuts! Should I go sooner? I have already been treated for yeast infection. But there has been no relief.

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Itching and foul smelling discharge indicates the following:
1) Vaginal infection
2) Any gauze piece left at the site of hysterectomy accidentally
3) Urinary tract infection

Most probably yours is a vaginal infection that will respond to antibiotics oral and topical. Consult your gynecologist for appropriate treatment. High doses of antibiotics would be prescribed for extended periods of time. Please do take the medications as prescribed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
