What Causes Itching And Lump Around Nexplanon Implant?
I have had a nexplanon implant for 2 years 10 months. It has been very itchy for the entire period and I now have a scar from scratching in my sleep. The OBGYN who inserted it told me there wouldn t be an issue with it and refused to remove it, but now there s a large pea size lump at the injection area and it feels like it is under the nexplanon. What can I do?
Hi Itching at site of Nexplanon implant is one of the side effect even though not common.Itching can be very serious in very sensitive skins since it is placed intradermally. Most women with this effect resort to scratching and constant scratching results in microinjuries and at times macro at site of implant. The healing process of these traumatized tissues always result in hypertrophic scars or even keloids. This is not a side effect of the nexplanon though, rather tissue response to stratching.I will advise you see your Gynecologist to remove the implant and if possible, the pea size lump should be taken off.If the opinion/help of a plastic surgeon is needed, no problem. There are many other safe contraceptive methods you can be placed on.Just discuss the options with your Gynecologist. Hope my answer will help you Best regards
