What Causes Itching And Swelling In The Cheek After A Wasp Sting?

I was stung near my eye by what I think was a wasp. It happened 12 days ago. I iced it for a while. It didn t swell up until the following day. The swelling was below my eye and at the top of my cheek bone. I took Benadryl and it seemed to clear up in a few days. Last night I work up and my cheek was itching. In the morning, it was warm and slightly swollen. I did a lot of yard work yesterday so I m not sure if my reaction is related to the wasp sting of something else. Can the venom be reactivated?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that itching and swelling of cheek does not seems to be due to wasp sting but there is a possibility that you are bitten again by any poisonous insect or can be due to allergic reaction to any skin cosmetic..
I would suggest you to take anti allergics like Benadryl or Levocetrizine and do cool compresses over the swelling..
You can also apply calamine lotion..
In case if there is no improvement or recurring episodes of same symptoms consult an Allergist and get evaluated and blood test to rule out allergy can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
