Good morning. I recently ended a round of amozicillan (I likely spelt that very wrong - sorry) for a tooth issue. Sorry for the TMI but I had intercourse a few nights ago and had a little pain after. This is normal for me. I have endometriosis and rarely engage in penetration sex for this reason. Anyway, it s been two days since then and suddenly, I m itchy. My discharge is not quite normal either. It seems more, comes in globs but is otherwise the same consistency if not a little whiter then usual. Honestly, I m reaching since I m not in the habit of studying my panties. I just notice more when I wipe after peeing. I m itchy and maybe a little swollen. My Doctor isn t returning my calls yet (it s a busy office) so I went and took a one day pill and cream treatment. It seems to be relieving the itch. My question is, does this sound like a yeast infection? If not, did I just do something wrong in treating it? Thanks so much and sorry for the TMI.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely yeast infection as you have got it after amoxicillin therapy. A swab test will be helpful in ruling out this. Clotrimazole (monistat) cream application locally will be helpful for this. This will be available over the counter also. You should apply this for 1 week. If there is no improvement then fluconazole tab orally will be helpful. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
