What Causes Itching And Tingling In A Person Diagnosed With Peripheral Neuropathy?
My boyfriend is 63 years old, having peripheral neuropathy symptoms in his hands and feet. He is not diabetic or pre-diabetic (based on lab tests), and now he is having tingling/itching, poking sensations occasionally on his head and neck. His family has a strong history of MS, and he had an MRI scan about 6 months ago and did have some very small white spots but he was told these were blood vessels and common as people get older. He is getting very frustrated and depressed.
Hi, Thanks for writing to HCM. I understand your concern. What problems your boyfriend is facing due to peripheral neuropathy with his history of MS in the family, he can overcome the symptoms by taking the following medications regularly. 1. Methylcobalamin tablets to supplement Vitamin B12. 2. Folic acid and Pyridoxine capsules. 3. Antioxidant agents like Vitamin E, VItamin C and Selenium. 4. Supportive compounds like L-Carnitine and Alpha lipoic acid. Over a period of time, the symptoms should subside gradually and he should feel better from such symptoms. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
