hello,i have itches around my groin area which has resulted to the skin around that area to be inflamed and scaly.there is also a white layer very close to my groin which feels kind of dusty and looks like dandruff.i am 27,male,i have been having this itch and feeling like 10yrs and counting.i have done my STI,STD tests and all came out negative.what can i do about it,because it feels very embarrassing.i am 6ft 2
Inflammed, dry scaly skin in the groin area, suggests to me that it could be due to fungal infection over there (Tinea cruris).
I would ask you get a KOH wet mount from the scale, for a confirmatory diagnosis.
If KOH wet mount shows fungal elements, then you could apply a topical OTC antifungal cream e.g clotrimazole cream, twice daily for 4-6 weeks.
An oral antifungal e.g fluconazole 150mg once weekly for 4-6 weeks is also advisable for a confirmed fungal infection.
An OTC antihistamine e,g cetrizine 10mg once daily would help you in providing symptomatic relief from itching.
