Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a problem with the surrounding area of my vagina plus up in the vagina getting itchy. I have been to several Dr. to include OBGYN & Urology. I can only think of it in this manner. I don t know jock itch but that is one way to describe it. The urologist said I was really dry and gave me two different creams and nothing ever clears it up. Any suggestions?
I am sorry for the fastidious itchy vagina you are experiencing. There are the following causes to it:
- being extremely dry due to hormonal changes (if you are during menopause)
- vaginal thrush (vaginal swab testing will rule it out)
- intestinal parasites (stool examination for ova/parasites will rule it out).
Check them out with your caring doctor. Meanwhile, I advise to take oral probiotics to stabilize the microbiota and apply probiotic lotion locally (on your vagina). Do not shave your pubic hair, choose other depilatory manners.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
