What Causes Itching At The Back Of Scalp After Drinking Alcohol?
Occasionally after work I have a couple glasses of wine or a vodka tonic, I am a 61 female, as soon as I take my first drink of either the back of my scalp starts to itch ,it is almost unbearable ,I take my brush and scratch until raw, I ve tried different wines or drinks and it all does the same, I don t like beer but I did try it, and had the same results. I m sure the smartest is to refrain from drinking at all but would like to know why this happens. Thanks, Kay Pike
Yes excess alcohol intake reduces our tolerance and poorly metabolized blood products stimulates nerve ending that leads to over itching. alcohol tends to increase neurotransmitter mediators like histamine, serotonin in nerve ending to increase sense of itching. This two mechanism is possible.
