What Causes Itching Followed By White Patches On Skin?

My husband has been getting white patches on his skin for the last few months and its spreading like wildfire. He has them on his shines, his groin area and his face and back. He says it itches in the are when the white patches are and he scratches it and then white patches show up. He saw a dermatologist and the derm said it was virtiligo but im wondering if it might be tinea versicolor since my husband says it itches in those spots. I can send you pictures of his infected areas.

Hello dear,
Welcome to healthcaremagic.
I have read your query and understood your concern.

Itchy white patches with very rapid spread within months is unlikely vitiligo. But since you have consulted dermatologist, so I cant ignore his/ her diagnosis also.
I will advice you to put pic of the lesions so that I can actually visualise it and help you to my best.
Stay healthy.
