Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi Doctor. On Friday my skin started to be itchy. I have felt it itchy everywhere but mostly in my legs and arms. Searching on the Internet I saw that can be related to diabetes. I have antecedents in my family, and I ve been very worried. I don t know if it is suggestion, but I ve noticed too about very light tingle on my feet when I am resting. About thirst and urine frequency, it s all normal. I checked my blood like 5 months ago and everything was OK, but the last two months I ve been eating more sugar than usual. I hope you can help me to get calm, and thanks in advance.
Itching of arms and legs can be most probably due to an allergic reaction and it can be due to a number of causes like foods, medicines, any skin irritants like detergents, soaps, skin cosmetics etcetera. Some people can also be allergic to latex, leather etcetera. If you have associated symptoms like increased thirst and urine frequency, then you can have the latest fasting, post, meal, and HbA1c levels checked. Also, you should take anti-allergics like levocetirizine for now to reduce itching. You can also apply Calamine lotion and do ice packs.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
