What Causes Itching In The Hands And Diarrhea After Taking Benadryl?
My husband has had three episodes like this now. The last time he went to the ER and was diagnosed with an allergic reaction and given IV Benadryl. His symptoms were: itchy hands, severe sweating, diarrhea, shaking, confusion, tingling all over, whole body turning bright red, and swelling in his feet. This last episode, I helped him get Advil and Benadryl and he recovered in a couple hours. Ideas? Anything to check?

hi, Thanks for the question. iI understand your concern. Allergy to Benadril is seen in some patients.. in some of them it is extensive. your husband had severe allergy.. which could be due to some thing else he had eaten, inhaled or been in contact that perticular time. It needs evaluation by self observation/ my consulting an allergy specialist9 allergy testing ) He seems to be allergic to something unknown to you. I would suggest to go for allergy testing ... where by the list of allergens would be with you... & they can be avoided. At the time of testing... please tell him about the history of allergy to IV Benadryl. If it is +ve, please avoid giving even tablet of Benadril...unless under an experts care. Thanks.
