I am a 35year old female, married. i have been experiencing itching in my pubic region for months now, after treating with drugs prescribed, it stops for about 2-3wks and the starts again. in the past 6months, i have treated my self 3 times. what could be the cause of this
Pubic itching can be related bacterial infections like folliculitis of the pubic hair or due to pubic louse or fungal infections. Associated vaginal itching can indicate vaginal infections which can present as altered color or foul smelling vaginal discharge. Vaginal smear and sexually transmitted infection screening should be done. Antibiotics for bacterial infections or ectoparasiticides like permethrin lotion application may be required for pubic louse. Elevated blood sugar levels should also be ruled out.
