What Causes Itching In The Scalp And Skin With No Dandruff?

I have very itchy scalp and skin, creams help the skin but I can t use oils or cream in my hair and go to work. The Doc said it was not dadrff. I do color my hair but my hair dresser said she didn t think it was the hair dye because there is no sign of a rash or anything. My hair is starting to thin too, a lot. What do you think? My Doctor took blood work and my thyroid is in the normal range.

Hello,

Itching in the scalp may be due to lice or scabies or allergy to dye or shampoo or psoriasis or eczema or sunburn or dry scalp or dirt or rosacea or fungal infection etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Avoid skin irritants or avoid smoking and alcohol consumption.

Check for hemoglobin status, renal function tests, liver function tests then consult your physician/dermatologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
