Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Got sunburn on shoulders while on vacation 3 weeks ago and now am experiencing itching on shoulder blades - the itching has been bothering me the last 3 weeks and it seems to be bothering me more and more with time. I am thinking the two are related. Am using Cortizone 10 on the area and it helps but it continues to come back. There is no rash in the area, there are minimal bumps there - but these are not causing the itching. It feels like i am covered in fiberglass, only on the shoulders. Any ideas?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Your problem can be skin sensitivity from sun exposure. Avoid sun exposure by wearing adequate clothes. You can take anti histamines like cetirizine (zyrtec) once daily at bed time for 1 week. You can apply cortisone 10 cream also for 1 week. This will slowly wear off. If symptoms of itching is more and not improving then you may need a short course of oral corticosteroids like methyl prednisolone. For this you can approach your General practitioner.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
