What Causes Itching Pimple On Pubic Area?

Hello, recently I ve noticed an odd pimple like mark down on my pubic area.. I ve been resting in a bath every day before it due to a pilionidal cyst. But I left it be, the next day I decided to shave, and I accidentally opened it. The day after, it s been a bit itchy, and a bunch of like small bumps are all around it.. The razor I used is very old, but there s no rust or discoloring.. I am also sexually active as well, with one partner for a while. But I ve been itching at it, and now today it seems as if it spread a bit.. How worried should I be, and what is it?

Hello,

As per your case history, you have folliculitis. My treatment advice is -
1. Don't squeeze the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an NSAID like ibuprofen for 5-7 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil, and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
