What Causes Itching Sensation Around The Neck?

My daughter is 18 years old and has been recently diagnosed with IBS and gastroparesis. She has been able to eat chicken broth and potatoes for the past several weeks, a very limited diet. This evening she began experiencing intense itching and burning around her neck, chest, right shoulder, upper arm, and top part of her back. She is also complaining that her eyes are burning. Any idea what could be causing this?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

As per your case history of itching on neck, my treatment advice is:

1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like Fusiderm-B cream twice daily on affected skin.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
