What Causes Itching Sensation At The Site Of IV Shot?
Someone just took an iv injection and the site is itchy and slightly swollen. The injection site wasn t swabbed properly and she is now concerned about bacteria entering the area (and potentially traveling to the heart). How do we determine if it is something that must be handled, and what should she do?
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
She should just applymild steroid cream such as Betrion and apply cold compresses. This may be slight reaction to injection and it should pass soon and i dont think antibiotics are required. I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time. Kindly regards. Wish you a good health. DR. Ivan Rommstein
