What Causes Itching, Tiredness And Fever When Diagnosed With Filariasis?
its about filariasis for my father, its actually not that bad, its been well cared, but some times when he works little bit hard like travelling its gives problems like itching and gets tired and fever, but even that he will ok in a day or two. He used to use some medicine like 30 years back, but now he is using nothing. And its for one of the leg, it has little bit swelling and its controlled, but I want permanent cure. we are from Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh. can you guide me with medicines and any better hospital? please.

As per my clinical experience, the filariasis is parasitic disease caused by nematode family. The swelling legs is due to impaired lymphatic drainage of the concerned lower limb. The medications as Albendazole with or without Ivermectin and DEC are drug of choice for chronic use and keep the disease under remission to some extent.
The itching, fever and tiredness do suggest flare up of the underlying worms and need evaluation with eosinophil levels. Extra care with systemic steroids, anti histamine as diphenhydramine, local application of calamine lotion will support to great extent.
