I have PV . I am 43 and am in the hell of itching. My GP, Oncologist, 2 Dermatologist and 2 other GP s put me on so many Rx I went crazy and none took away the itching. I had to be taken by ambulance twice to stop the seizures.I take nothing now and have been this way for 1 year but I rake my skin off because it is so bad. 1 asprin a day is all I do. What else is out there other than a blood thinner like Coumadin?
As per your case history of generalized itching, my treatment advice is:
1. Do not squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion on affected region twice daily. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral steroid, hydroxyzine taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harshit Bhachech
