What Causes Itchy And Black Specks While Scratching Scalp?

A couple of days now my head has been itching madly. When i scatch i find black specks of something under my nails. It looks like fine black sand. I thought at first my scalp might be dirty because that s what it looks like, dirt. After washing my hair its still there and seems to be getting worse. What could this be and how can i get rid of it asap
