What Causes Itchy And Red Rashes On My Back And Forearms?

It started with a rash on my back. It s very itchy and feels dry and raised. I ve had this for about a month. A week ago I also got a rash on both forearms. In the same spot on both arms. Very itchy and seems to only get worse when scratched. I have not been outside and not been using any new products. I have two medications that I have been on for a couple of years now and not sure if the medication is causing this. I bought over the counter eczema cream and an anti itch cream but it is not helping.

Hi,

Well, it can be an allergic reaction and in case if not using any new products then it can be due to any food or medication. In case of severe reaction, you might need a steroid shot to reduce the symptoms faster.

I would suggest you consult an Emergency room and get evaluated and a clinical examination has to be done and if needed get an allergy test done. For now, take anti-allergy medicine like Levocetirizine or Allegra and apply steroid ointment like Betamethasone. Do cool compresses over the rashes.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
