Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a rash (ichy, scaley, dry) on my jawline directly next to a tooth that has an infected root. I've had a root canal on the tooth, but the dentist cannot put a crown on yet because of the inflammation/infection. Is my tooth causing the rash on my face?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of itchy and scaly rash on the jawline near infected tooth which could be due to presence of dental abscess which is leading to facial space infection and apart from that it could be due to contact dermatitis due to allergy , sunburn and systemic causes cuh as viral infection causing herpes.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult dentist once and get it examined and go for IOPA of that tooth and if infection is there go for retreatment before putting crown to subside infection. Dentist may refer you to dermatologist if non dental cause and go for blood test and skin test. He/she may prescribe antibiotics/antiviral depending upon your condition. Avoid exposure to sunlight and wash your face with antiseptic soap. Take over the counter antihistamine drug like benadryl. Drink plenty of water.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
