What Causes Itchy And Swollen Tongue?

hello I m a 46 year old male and today...about an hour or an hour and a half ago perhaps...i thought my tongue was swelling up. I have no known allergies nor have any recollection of ever having an allergic reaction. Upon closer examination of my tongue I see that only one side is swollen...feels stuffed ...also, it is that side that feels itchy for lack of a better word. When I stick out my tongue and press it between my lips I can, again, tell it is only the one side that is swollen.I ate nothing out of the ordinary although the last thing I did eat before this happened was peanuts. I eat peanuts every day however.Any thoughts? Many thanks, Walter

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms could be related to an allergic reaction. For this reason, if your situation worsens, I recommend going to the ER for a steroid shot.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
