What Causes Itchy Bumps All Over The Body After Pacemaker Insertion?
Hi, I had a pacemaker inserted about 3 weeks ago. Immediately upon returning home, I began to break out in tiny flesh colored (some are red) itchy bumps on my back and left shoulder - pacemaker side. The bumps have now spread to cover my entire chest area, right side and stomach. I am beginning to be concerned. One of the IVs that was inserted in the ER had to be removed because it was too painful to use. Cause of pain was due to a black thread that was accidentally pushed into my vein by the nurse who inserted the IV. Could I have some sort of infection as a result?
Hi. As per your case history of itchy rash my advice is - 1. The rashes in your case are most likely allergic, it is not due to pacemaker but any gel or cream that may be applied during that procedure. 2. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion twice daily on the affected part. 3. Take a moderate antihistamine like levocetrizine or cetrizine twice daily. 4. Other treatment options are oral steroid short course, topical mild steroid given only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
