What Causes Itchy Burning Sensation On The Penile Foreskin Of An Elderly Person?

I am 71 years old. I am uncircumcised and about 3 months ago I started having problems with the inside of my foreskin becoming red and burning (itchy). My glans is also very red and quite shiny. I ve tried anti fungal cream and it helped a little, but not completely. I wash my penis at least twice a day with just plain warm water. If I do not wash for a day, I get a large amount of smegma build up. What should I do?

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I have read your description and understand your concern.
Based on the description, it appears that you could be having fungal (yeast) as well as bacterial infection of the skin under the foreskin of your penis.
Kindly do the following to overcome the symptoms.
1. Wash the area with mild antiseptic solution like Savlon thrice daily.
2. After drying, apply Neomycin with hydrocortisone cream underneath the foreskin and glans.
3. Apply antifungal medication like Clotrimazole cream underneath the foreskin and glans.
4. Take Tablet.Levocetrizine once a day to control itching.
5. Apply moisturizer cream/lotion during bedtime.
6. Wear loose fitting undergarments to provide proper ventilation and avoid friction in the affected area.
7. Abstain from sexual activities till the symptoms subside completely.
Maintain clean and good personal hygiene.
Gradually, your symptoms should subside and you should feel better.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
