What Causes Itchy Eyes Along With Small Particle Stuck In Eye?

Hair in the eye duct... After a closer look following a couple of hours of an itchy eye corner, I spotted something that resembled a microscopic (1 mm) blond (almost white or even transparent) hair, sticking out of my lower lid tear duct! One could even say that it looked like a very thin fishing line particle. Thinking it could have been a part of some eyebrow hair I had cut earlier in the day, that had accidentally entered my eye duct, I decided to pull it out. I let a few drops of eye lubricant disposable fall on a q-tip and then passed it over my eye duct, thinking that the light rubbing action friction could possibly pull the hair out of there. Indeed, a larger part of hair did actually come out but the rest was still resting in the eye duct. I then decided to pass the edges of a pair of tweezers with white 90% alcohol and use it to carefully meteorize over the hair, without touching any other part of the eye, and plug it out. Finally, a no more than 2,5 mm total length hair did come out with no resistance. I felt an immediate relief and the itching of the eye has progressively stopped ever since. 1.Could any or both things possibly happen: a) a hair really growing out of the eye duct and is this a normal thing? b) another type of hair somehow enter the eye duct? 2.Was it ok to carefully pull it out the way I did? Sorry for the long question and Thank you in advance for your answer!

Hello,

First of all, this is not the right approach towards such a sensitive part of your body, you must visit an eye doctor because they have special sterile instruments. Plus, they're experts who are trained for such problems. Secondly, there are no hair follicles in the tear duct, it must be your eyelash or any other hair. For itchiness, you should put tear-plus eye drops 3 times a day, if it isn't relieving you should go to an eye doctor for proper examination.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,

One should really not try to attempt such procedures at home, because the eye doctors have special instruments for that purpose and one would be in safe hands trained to do such things, eye ducts doesn't have hair in them, it must be from some other source, you should really go to an eye doctor for examination besides foreign particles do cause itchiness for which you should use eye drops tears-plus 1-2 drops 3 times a day.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
