I am 45 and race mountain and road bikes so I am riding constantly all week - a couple hundred miles per week. I played soccer in college and have been extremely athletic my whole life. After about 15 straight days on the bike, I decided to take two days off and then go for a short jog with my dog. After about 200 yards I experienced excruciating, sharp, debilitating pain in my upper legs and thighs - I have never experienced this before. Two bruises suddenly appeared on my upper right thigh. I could barely walk. I finally made it back to the car and went home. Subsequently symptoms improved; I thought I must just have had a huge build up of lactic acid in my legs which is chronic due to all of the cycling. I stretched, drank lemon water all day, took iron supplements and potassium. Things were better then later I mowed the lawn and did some yard work and - wham! same debilitating leg pain. Now my legs and muscles ache. I started to research and about 2 weeks ago I did have what I thought was poison ivy contracted from being in the woods mountain biking. I had groups of pustules around my lower legs mostly on on ankles either side of achilles tendon. The last 2 weeks my eyes have been constantly incredibly itchy and watery. I had a bout of what seemed like a bad allergy attack about a week ago and took OTC allergy meds. I m wondering if what I have is shingles - I had chicken pox as a kid in 6th grade. Also, I have been waking up every morning with deep chronic pain in my lower back.
