What Causes Itchy Feeling In The Area Around Right Tonsil?

Hi,I had pharyngitis 4days ago, my left tonsil was inflamed, my pharynx was inflamed and I had sores at the back of my throat. It was a Sunday and it had healed around Wednesday. Now it s Thursday and I feel like there;s something itchy in the area around my right tonsil. Does this mean I have contracted the viral infection again, this time on my right tonsil instead of my left? Gratefully Khosi

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of itchy feeling in the area around right tonsil which seems to be due to bacterial or viral infection which is leading to tonsillitis and ear infection , which spread from pharynx to ear through eustachian tube due to post nasal drip due to sinusitis or upper respiratory track infection. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get examination of tonsils done , throat swab test , viral culture test , hearing test and examination with otoscope and start treatment after proper diagnosis. You should avoid cold carbonated beverages. Take steam several times a day . I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles. You should take antibiotic Ciorofloxacin for 5days. You should take antiallergic medication. Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist for acid reflux problem .
