What Causes Itchy Forearms And Hands Along With Hives?

I am 42 years old with no health problems at all. Tuesday night my hands and forearms began itching uncontrollably. I used baby oil to ease the discomfort. The next morning at work severe itching around belly, waistline, inner & back of thighs. Noticed very red irritated skin. During the rest of the day and evening itching increased to what seemed all over my body literally. That night I had welts (sp) or hives all up my arms, both thighs, belly and waist. I m miserable. I took a shower and used some hydrocortisone. Only temporary relief. Today...itching uncontrollably again at work. What is this???

Hello,
Thanks for the query,
You might have developed acute urticaria.
It is an allergic condition.
Anything including food, cloth, change in climate, pollens etc can cause urticaria.
You need to find out the cause.
Treatment can be with oral anti histamines.
Steroids like prednisolone are also helpful but cannot be used for long.
Please meet a dermatologist for exact diagnosis.
