What Causes Itchy Hands And Feet After Taking Prednisone And Albuterol?
My granddaughter was diagnosed on Thursday with bronchitis and given prednisone and albuterol sulfate inhaler. The next morning she started experiencing itching of of hands and feet. Nurse practitioner consulted and said to stop prednisolone. By that evening itching continued and both knee joints became painful to stand on with some swelling and what appeared to look like bruising. Went to ER and ER doc thought allergic reaction to something but didn t believe prednisolone or inhaler were cause. Also diagnosed with pneumonia and given antibiotic. She continued to use inhaler but not prednisolone. On Saturday 1st dose of inhaler she noticed minor itching but an hour after 2nd dose started itching with what appeared to be hives. All the while knees still slightly swollen and bruised-looking. Started taking antibiotic Saturday afternoon. Went to to ER again on Satursay evening as wasn t improving and ER doc instructions on Friday if not any better tomorrow to come back in otherwise follow up with primary doc. ER doc on Saturday still not sure what going on seemed very concerned with the knees as he couldn t explain that as part of allergic reaction and to see primary care doc on Monday. Benedryl helps with itching symptoms. Today better but knees still look bruised. Does the sound like allergic reaction to medicine? The knee thing just doesn t sound like part of an allergic reaction
