What Causes Itchy Hives On Thigh And Swollen Feet?

My son has some symptoms i think are allergic reaction. He ate some shrimp fried rice tonight. He said he was itching and I say hives down his thighs. His feet began to swell. I gave him some benadryl and he seems to be getting better. should I take him to the hospital?

Hi,

The symptoms suggest allergy to shrimps. It s good that it has reduced after Benadryl. You can try tab. Cetirizine one at bed time. It would take about 3 days to recede back the symptoms. If it does not relieve / if the symptoms increase / if he starts breathing trouble take him to ER immediately. Please remember about the shrink allergy and let h avoid it permanently. In case of recurrence give him an allergy screwing test followed by desensitization therapy by an Allergy specialist.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
