Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a double hernia repair surgery last Monday. I noticed that when I came home I had itchy feet like I developed athletes foot from the hospital or something. And an itchy patch on my index finger. Then 48 hrs after my whole stomach was broken out in hives. It is now 1 week later and my stomach is not any better and last night I actually woke up at 3 am itching my stomach so bad it woke my husband. Then my thighs and forearms started itching. Now they look like hives as well. Could I be allergic to the mesh that the surgeon used?
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.
Your symptoms can be related to an allergy to the mesh. Other possible symptoms of the allergy to the mesh are: -Persistent or chronic inflammation at the site of the hernia mesh. -Poor healing or fluid buildup at the site of the hernia mesh. In this case, I suggest to consult your surgeon.
Hope my answer was helpful.
If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.
Kind regards!
