What Causes Itchy Mole On Cheek?

Hi. I m 47 and seem to have just acquired a new mole in the past two weeks on my face-right in the middle of my cheek. It is slightly raised, tan, about the size of a pencil eraser, and seems symetrical- not abnormally sized, shaped, or colored. It is slightly itchy. I do not have many moles. Is it normal to get a new mole like this in middle-age, or should I be concerned it could be melanoma?

Hello,
I can understand your concern for itchy mole on cheek.
As I can get from your query that the mole is larger than pencil eraser as well is presently itching therefore in all such kind of cases I prefer to excise the moles.

Though in general mild itching is just a perception and most of the moles are benign but even then as the mole is larger than pencil eraser so you can get this mole excised as per your convenience.

You can observe the mole for few days and if you feel any abnormal sign or increase in itching then can meet a dermatologist.

Do not try to scratch or repeatedly touch the area. I suggest you to meet a dermatologist to take further guidance.
