What Causes Itchy Rash That Leaves A Scab After Bleeding?

I have an itchy rash that bleeds and leaves a scab. It keeps itching and I keep scratching and it seems to be spreading all over. First we thought scabies but a doctor saw my grandchild who was presenting with same symptoms and she said no and looked at my chest and said no. So we are clueless. All tests on the baby are inconclusive. I am getting worse and nothing seems to help. It is on back, chest , inside of arms, on legs and around belly sides and midback around the waist area. It is just red and itchy and when I scratch it spreads and leaves bumpy spot and scabs over.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that it is a bacterial infection called impetigo which is itchy and contagious.

It is most commonly caused by the stap aureus or strep pyogenes.

If present then the use of oral antibiotics would be needed.

You may want to consider visiting a dermatologist for assessment.

I hope this helps
