General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You developed rash on both sides of the inner thigh close to the vagina due to wearing of pad. Now you have developed itchy rash with burning sensation. You are suggested to take care of your hygiene, wash the genital area every time you go to the washroom/ toilet. Avoid using public toilets / washrooms. Apply cold compress for relieve, do not touch, pop or scratch, it will trigger spread of infection.

You are suggested to apply clotrimazole cream on the area affected, if it is fungal infection it will take 2-3 weeks time but clear off. You can take a course of antifungal (Fluconazole). Apply Monistat suppository for vagina is also helpful. You can take non sedating antihistamine to get rid of itching and burning.

However, you are suggested to get clinically examined by a Urologist, get STD tests done to stay on the safer side. You may be suggested few blood tests, PCR and viral culture to detect herpes. If positive you will be treated with a course of antibiotics/antivirals. Stay away rom any sexual activity for a couple of days while you are being treated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Pathologist and Microbiologist Dr. Shailja Puri's  Response
Hello,

A rash on inner sides of thigh could be due to allergy to the material of the sanitary pad as you have mentioned. If there is no evidence of allergy, primary skin condition like eczema can also lead to itching and subsequent scratching. I suggest you to consult a skin specialist for clinical assessment, relevant investigations and thus management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
