What Causes Itchy Rashes All Over The Body?

I m pretty sure I had scabies from where I work. I had all the symptoms. I was treated 3 was ago and had relief for 2 weeks and then it started all over again. I refilled permethrin an put it on from neck down covering everything except scalp. I currently have a rash all over with itching which is pretty bad. I have been taking Benadryl at night to try and get rid of it. I now have some hives in the back of my scalp with intermittent itching. I put cream on my neck and around forehead but just a little bit. My entire body is a red itchy rash and I m miserable. It said to do another treatment in 1 week but I don t think this skin can take. What should I do?

Hi,

First of all, scabies does not involve face or forehead at all.

Scabies has a typical history, source form a friend or a family member, there are a few types but surely respond well to Permethrin or other medications.

It seems from your history that you got a reaction to the medication or something else. Hence may need oral steroids along with Benedryl that you are taking.

It is needed to see if there is any deficiency of vitamins that can pre-dispose to skin diseases. Any contact dermatitis due to clothes or so, synthetic bed sheets, pets like dogs and cats, any nearby garden that gives lots of pollen. Any food allergy.

Detailed review and identification can give you the best possible causative factor and surely an opinion of a Dermatologist should be taken for a proper diagnosis and appropriate management.
