What Causes Itchy Rashes Around Waistline And Forearm?
I have been getting this random itchy rash for the past several years. When I first noticed it, it was in my waistline area. Now, it usually appears on the bottom side of my forearm. It gets intensely itchy, more often when I m sleeping. Eventually, it will go away on its own.
Atopic dermatitis is the commonest cause of severe itching. Other medical conditions that can cause similar symptoms are psoriasis, scabies, allergies, etc. You are suggested to take care of your hygiene. Take bath regularly and wear soft cotton clothes. Take anti histamines, once daily at bed time for 5-7 days.
You can apply a thin layer of ointment containing hydrocortisone on the area affected. Avoid using harsh soaps and other cosmetic products that dry out your skin. Stay well hydrated. Turn on a humidifier to add moisture to the air in your home. However, get clinically examined to rule out scabies and psoriasis.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
