What Causes Itchy Rashes On Back Of The Shoulder Blade?

Husband, 64 woke up this morning with two red welt-looking places on the right side of his back at the shoulder blade (of course he just told me about it). The place is slightly raised and itchy. No other places on his body like this. He has an itchy throat and he is a little tired (changing jobs), but no other symptoms.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that he had a bite since it is a specific area that is involved.
The use of an oral anti histamine may help.
It would be best to use a non drowsy anti histamine since he is already tired eg claritine, allegra, zyrtec

The itchy throat may be part of the allergic response as well and should respond to the anti histamine.

I hope this helps
