Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Itchy Rashes On The Body And Swelling On The Lips?
My 38 year old son has suddenly developed an all-body rash, itchy and is actually experiencing swollen lips. The GP has prescribed Prednizone twice - it calms it down, but no cure. He has now referred him to a dermatologist. As a side note, he has had swollen lymph nodes in his groin for several months, but has not had them checked out. Not sure if either problems are related. What could be the cause of his rash?
In my opinion genitourinary infections/STD lead to inflammation of the lymph nodes. However it can also be due to other factors like flu, Mononucleosis, genital herpes, testicular cancer, etc. He can take non-sedating antihistamines for relieve from itchy rashes. He ca apply calamine lotion locally. Rashes can be due to some allergy, contact dermatitis, urticaria, etc. Get him physically diagnosed and treated without delay. He should get CBC, Urinalysis and all tests for STD done to rule out any sexually transmitted disease causing the symptoms. He needs antivirals and antibiotics.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr Nupur K.
