What Causes Itchy Rashes On The Body?

My father is 80. He went through 3 rounds of R Chop chemo for lymphoma in 2015. He had shingles last summer. Now he has welts that break out all over him in the mornings when he wakes up. The itching is unbearable. His diet and medication have not changed. He takes Benadryl and it helps a little. Could this be caused by the shingles virus?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Certain chemotherapy medications used can at times cause side effects which manifests as itchy rashes on the body.
Kindly give antihistamine medication like Tablet. Levocetirizine once a day to reduce the symptoms.
If it does not subside and if he develops any other associated symptoms, he needs medical attention promptly.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.,
