What Causes Itchy Rashes On The Neck And Chest While On Gabapentin?
I m taking one Gabapentin 300 mg at night for my back but I have a rash on the lower part of my neck and chest that itches and is red also I have a feeling in my chest like I have a chest cold with a slight cough but I don t think that s what it is. My question is can I just stop the Gabapentin and take Benadryl to see if it s an allergic reaction ?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hello,
If you send the picture of the rash then it will be more helpful. Is it fluid-filled rash? If yes then it can be due to herpes zoster. In such case acyclovir cream for local application will be helpful. You can take Benadryl. If you started Gabapentin recently then you can stop it and see whether it improves.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nishad BN
