What Causes Itchy, Red And Swollen Ears?

Hi my ears have been really warm, red, itchy, and swollen. I ve been itchy like crazy it s very uncomfortable. Mynleft ear has a little flakes. They hurt a little. My doctor is not available. I have taken Benadryl and steroid cream last night but woke up this morning the same. It s been like this for about 3-4 days now. It s not on the inside of my ear although it feels a little more like it s getting to inside of my left ears. It s my cartilage, my top part of the ear. I have no idea what to do. I think going to the hospital is excessive but maybe not. Any suggestions or possible causes?

Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of warm, red, itchy and swollen ears, flakes in left ear. Taken Benedryl and steroid cream yesterday. The condition remains the same over last 3-4 days.
-This looks to be due to allergic reaction and you may need more than antihistamines like oral steroids.
Please do not apply anything locally.
Try to find out what caused this so that you can always keep the allergens away.
