What Causes Itchy Red Rashes All Over Chest Despite Using Benedryl And Cortisone?

I m 68 and healthy, but have developed an itchy red rash that spreads over my chest above my breasts for a few days, and has spread to my underarms, where my bra hits the skin I d know if it was fungus as I raised boys, and it isn t; it s pink and flat and looks like a convention of amoeba are sitting on my chest and front torso. It gets increasingly itchy and redder through the day, and then starts all over again the following morning. Benedryl knocks me out. Is there anything topical I can try? 1% cortisone, Desityn, CeraVe lotion are not helping. Any ideas?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of itchy red rashes all over chest despite using Benadryl and Cortisone which occurs due to contact dermatitis and allergic reaction of body. I would suggest you to get hormone levels monitored. Make use of product containing benzoyl peroxide. Take Multivitamin supplements. Apply topical antibacterial ointment such as mupirocin. Apply Adapalene gel once at night. Also wash your skin with mild soap and cold water twice a day , exfoliate your face once a week , apply aloe vera gel and apply azelaic acid containing cream twice a day.If condition doesn't start getting better in a month then consult dermatologist. Drink plenty of water daily and add fresh fruits and vegetables to your diet. It is very important to find out causative factor beside medicine .
