What Causes Itchy Red Rashes In The Armpits And Thighs?

This started Friday night . It moves in a 4 inch belt, up and down the trunk of my body between my armpits and the top of my thighs. It is not constant but gets fiery red, pepper rash, hives or welts, and intense itching. It travels up and down my trunk. Each time I put hydrocortisone cream on the rash and take an antihistamine. It calms down but returns later. I live in a state park as a volunteer so it s a woody environment. If I was bitten I wasn t aware of it. I haven t eaten anything I haven t eaten before. There is no fever or pain. YYYY@YYYY

Hi,

As per your query you have symptoms of itchy red rashes in the armpits and thighs which could be due to bacterial infection of hair follicle leading to folliculitis.

Need not to worry. I would suggest applying moderately potent topical steroid of triamcinolone acetonide cream at affected sites. Take proper course of antibiotics to suppress infection. You should visit a dermatologist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription. Take a tablet of cetirizine for symptomatic relief from itching. Avoid itching and pricking these rashes.
