What Causes Itchy Red Rashes On The Hand Despite Using Cortisone Cream?

Hello Dr. Rynne, I have a red rash with elevated bumps, some itchy areas, on my forearm, so anterior and posterior, with some located on the posterior of my hands. I applied some CVS corizone cream as of this evening. I have had it since Sunday June 26th.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

A red rash on the hand and forearm, with raised bumps and very itchy, is very likely due to contact dermatitis. I would advise you to use the cortisone cream twice a day for a week.

If you do not notice any improvement with this treatment in 3-4 days or if you notice any worsening, you will need to see your doctor. In this case, other causes such as scabies should be ruled out.

I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.

Regards,
