What Causes Itchy Red Spots On The Lower Legs During Winter Season?

Every Year when cooler weather arrives I develop itchy red spots on my lower legs they are always on the out side part of the leg slightly above my ankles. If I should scratch then they produce a radiating itch burn sensation. Around April It all subsides during the warmer weather here in NJ until about November when it returns. I will also clean my legs with Betadine in the shower and then apply Eucerin. I am 75 years old.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi sir.

It could just be a simple winter rash which usually occurs due to poor hydration requiring a good topical moisturiser as well as good intake of fluids, but it could also be an indicator of psoriasis which will have to be diagnosed with the help of a dermatologists examination, so please do speak to your doctor regarding the same.

Best wishes.
